Originally, this package was supp osed to arrive today. Looks like I’m not going to be able to change out the gasket this weekend after all . Meanwhile UPS got me my package from Summit racing in a day, for less money.

Yeah, I still have no idea what’s going on with the package USPS delivered to the wrong address  600 miles away from me on Wednesday. I broke my cardinal rule: don’t buy anything important from Amazon.

Nothing too horribly wrong at this point (the Next Scheduled Event thing is a bit weird, and I’m a bit surprised that packages go two-days non-stop without getting scanned somewhere ). Mainly though after a decade of Amazon Prime (and plenty of other retailers who deliver in a day or two), it’s weird to deal with ground shipping from the West, and its associated week long travel times.

I’m supposed to have an ABS sensor delivered via FedEx today. I imagine there will be some sort of fuckery. There always is with them.

Ohhhhh fedex.

1. I ordered a piece of jewelry from somewhere, it was signature required, fedex. I used my account to login and pre-authorize drop-off without signature in person, because a) I’m not at home during the day and b) theft of packages is not a thing where I live. Nope, they didn’t acknowledge it. After two failed attempts, I went to the facility at about 6:00pm. They close at 6:45. I was told the package would be returning by 7:00pm. WTF. I ended up calling the seller and having THEM change the destination to my office.

2. I ordered a camera from a place online. They said, “orders over $1,000 would be signature required.” My order was $416. I needed it for a trip, and sure enough, two days before I’m supposed to leave, there’s a fedex note on the door. Delivery attempted, signature (in-person) required. WTF. So I called to see if I could pick it up at their facility , and the person says, “oh it will be there by 3;00pm, it says here.” “Great, well can you confirm with someone at that facility that they have it? Because I’ve been through this and they didn’t have packages back until much later. I want to be absolutely certain that it’s in their facility before I drive 45 minutes EACH WAY.” “Oh no, I can’t do that. But it says 3pm right here.” WTF. I took a gamble and it was there. But come on.

Kind of the opposite in the SF Bay Area. USPS is ... fine... UPS... don’t get me started.

Plenty of “attempted delivery” schenanigans. I’ve watched THE truck just drive on by, and minutes later: “delivery attempted”.

I left a note on my community gate, that said “UPS driver please dial xxxx number on this call box and it will dial my cell phone directly and I will let you in”.  .... “delivery attempted”.  Nope.
